Sustainability & PLM Impianti

Sustainability is one of the core values of PLM Impianti and we aim at reducing the environmental impact of the textile industry. In order to do this we want to demonstrate how the textile machinery sector can contribute to the development of global sustainability and circularity, with innovative solutions that can enhance management, efficiency and transparency along the entire value-chain

“Circularity of a production process refers to the ability of this process to retain the value of products, materials and resources in the economy for as long as possible and to minimize, to the extent possible, the generation of waste along all the steps of the value chain” – UNECE

Corporate Philosophy

We strongly believe that everyone can contribute to safeguard our environment, and that every step makes a difference. As a company we can change our habits and promoting awareness about this issue among our employees.

  • We promote Plastic-free initiatives
  • In-house management
  • Research and Devrlopment projects
  • Sustainability education

Since 2021 PLM Impianti has been part of the Monitor For Circular Fashion Community, a research project organized by SDA Bocconi, powered by EnelX and in collaboration with UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe).

Our machines and Sustainability

We realize long-term solutions to meet current and future customer needs and contribute to the circularity and sustainability of the textile supply chain. Our machines are designed to optimize the finishing processes and guarantee quality continuity in the following sectors: textile, automotive, technical fabric, denim, non-woven

Process optimization to guarantee quality along the entire value-chain

Packing material reduction thanks to our smart packaging systems

Traceability and Data management to improve transparency and efficiency

Energy efficiency and promotion of consumption reduction

1. Process optimization

Thanks to our optimization process, the system identify the optimal cutting points to the production of first choice fabric rolls, minimizing the waste due to defects.

The objective of our machinery is to preserve the value of the product along the process of the value-chain. A verified fabric is at the origin of a sustainable, quality and long-lasting production, compatible with the principles of circularity.

Our packaging solutions use biodegradable, compostable or recyclable polyethylene and are equipped with a patented system for the automatic change of the polyethylene width: this allows to use only the necessary amout of packing material, avoiding waste and reducing the circulation of plastic.

  • up to -40/50% in packing material
  • Biodegradable, compostable or recyclable PE
  • Reduction of energy consumption
  • Reduction of the packaging impact along the supply chain

2. Reduction of packaging along the supply-chain

3. Traceability and Artificial Intelligence

We promote traceability and data-informed decisions. Our software solutions match the previous data of the fabric with those generated during inspection, cutting and packing; making them available along the supply chain. These data are useful to optimize the subsequent phases, suggesting the processes that most increase the value and reduce waste.

  • Real time production management
  • Traceability
  • Production efficiency

We promote optimized, continuous processes and in line-machines to optimize productivity, reduce timing and limit energy consumption to a single production cycle.

During the packing process, by reducing the amount of polyethylene used, we can also reduce energy consumption.

4. Reduction of consumption during inspection, cutting and packing
