The Monitor for Circular Fashion, a SDA Bocconi’ s research project powered by Enel X, returns to shed light on sustainable fashion and its new dynamics. The central theme of the 2022 edition is greenwashing, the use of the sustainability concept for marketing purposes through misleading communications.
Monitor For Circular Fashion
The Monitor for Circular Fashion project has started in 2021 as a community of selected companies throughout the fashion supply chain for their commitment to the sustainability.
European reports highlight how the textile sector has a significant negative impact on climate change and the balance of the planet. Textile consumption is the fourth most impacting factor on the environment, third for water and soil consumption and fifth for the exploitation of resources and gas emissions.
The first edition was committed to define new sustainable models for a circular and transparent economy, from the sourcing of raw materials to the policies of recycling and reuse, giving life to the first pilot projects on this theme.
Against Greenwashing
After the results of the first year, the attention shifts to “sustainability claims”, the truthfulness of the supply chain information in its communication use.
Thanks to the hospitality of the companies involved, the second edition was carried out on an itinerant basis, visiting headquarters to discover more on their sustainability paths.
Each step represented a fundamental starting point in the definition of the eco-design principles that will populate the second report, which will be presented in autumn 2022.
PLM Impianti supports the Monitor
PLM Impianti took part in the project for the second year, taking inspiration from the ideas collected to enrich its sustainability policy. For what concerns eco design, the company has always been sensitive to the optimization of the finishing phases, to reduce the loss of precious material.
